Fashion Friday

As I mentioned earlier this week, I went shopping with my family and got some super cute clothes at Fashion Bug for my birthday. I wanted to share some of them with you and discuss one of my favorite things - fashion! (I also wanted to note that the prices listed on the website were different from the store prices - so if you have a local Fashion Bug, you might check it out.)

This first dress is my favorite. It's a square-neck polka dotted black and white cap sleeve dress. It comes just about to my knees. I'm wearing it to a wedding this coming weekend. It's the dress I thought felt a bit fifty-ish but not overtly so. It's quite flattering for plus sizes or people trying to hide a tummy (both of which I am!) because of the pleated skirt and the black banded empire waistline. You can find this dress here.

This dress is called the floral chiffon surplice dress. The definition of surplice according to the all-knowing Wikipedia is that it has a neckline which is formed by two pieces of fabric wrapping around each other creating a V-neck. This style is quite flattering again because of the banded empire waist and because the fabric falls nicely and isn't clingy. I wore this dress on Mother's Day and several people complimented me on it! You can find this dress here.

This dress is another floral surplice dress. It also has an empire waist but is gathered so it drapes more than the others. I would say it's slightly more clingy-er than the others. (Yes, I am making up words.) The colors are soft and very pretty. It has an interesting shaped neck and ruched bust. This dress can be found here.

And lastly, I have not a dress but something else - it's a black ruffled shrug. I plan on wearing it over the polka dot dress in case it's chilly the day of the wedding. The good thing about the shrug is that it's versatile and could be worn with lots of different things. You can find this item here.

  1. The dresses are cute. Do you know if fashion bug has dresses that are calf to ankle length? That is the length that I wear.

  4. Pretty dresses! I especially like the third one and the shrug, I love shrugs! They make me feel a bit more confident on the rare occasions when I wear a dress. I think it'll look good with the polka dot, good choice!
