Tales of Pillow & Zhu Zhu Pets

I wonder who created Pillow Pets, I thought yesterday. Have you seen them? "They're a pillow - and a pet!" It initially seemed like a little bit of a silly concept to me but my kids just fell in love with them. I kept thinking yesterday I bet it was a Mom and I bet she had a reason behind it. And I was right! I looked it up on the Pillow Pet websiteThe concept for the snuggly companions was the brainchild of a San Diego-based mother of two, who had grown tired of picking up stuffed animals strewn about her children's rooms. What began with the simple goal of transforming a traditional stuffed animal into a functional item for children has grown into an amazing jungle of popular retail and wholesale products.

Moms sure are creative, aren't they? Kids everywhere just LOVE these things. My kids sure love the ones they got for Christmas. (Although Zeke's turned out to be a knock-off brand. I didn't know that when I bought it, though!) Every day when they have reading/quiet time, they'll lay a blanket on the living room floor and snuggle up with their books and Pillow Pets.

Zhu Zhu pets are another thing entirely. They're something else my kids got for Christmas. The kids love to chase them around the floor and giggle wildly whenever they say silly things. My step-daughter is a big collector of them too - I'm not sure how many of the pets she has altogether but I know she has lots of the accessories and some of the babies too.

So far my two kids only have Cappuccino, Peachy and a plush Num Nums. Ellie left Peachy on our bedroom floor sometime last night so when hubby got up at 5 AM this morning for work he accidentally stepped on her. That was QUITE a wake-up, let me tell you.

What are your kids favorite new pets/toys?
