The Homeschool Mother's Journal: Week Three

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week...

We spent quite a bit of time at home since I didn't have to babysit this week - my babysitting charges were sick - and then as I mentioned earlier, our weekend plans got changed because of sickness in our family over the weekend.

In our homeschool this week...

Homeschooling went a lot smoother and I think that's because we weren't leaving in the middle of the day to babysit. (So I may have to consider not babysitting next year if it makes things go easier.) This week Zeke worked on art projects, his Alpha Omega Lifepac math workbook, handwriting with his dry erase boards & markers and beginning reading with the readers he got for Christmas from my Grandma.

Places we're going and people we're seeing...

This week we spent some time with Papa (my Dad) on a field trip to Chuck E. Cheese. Okay, so it wasn't really a "field trip" per say...more of a fun trip, I guess! Zeke spent most of his time climbing on the little play place while Ellie enjoyed playing all the games, even if there weren't always tokens in them! There were quite a few people there but both kids had a great time.

I also apparently forgot to mention our little Valentine party we had on the 14th - which was actually the week before but I got busy and forgot to write about it! We invited several mom friends but the weather was getting bad & lots of kiddos were sick so it was just my friend Carol and her little guy. We had a great time regardless - eating cupcakes, making Valentines and just playing together.

My favorite thing this week was...
Finding the Batman Preschool Pack on 1+1+1=1's website - we are SO doing that this week in school. Zeke is going to love it! Actually I've found an abundance of really cool resources this week - see more about that on the next question.

What's working/not working for us...
Tot School is working for us! (Read out first post about it here.) Ellie really likes having her own little part of "school" and Zeke also benefits because he likes knowing that she "has to do school too." (Not that I force her to, but sometimes I think he feels a little like "I'm the only one doing stuff, why doesn't she have to?" and now he doesn't have to worry about that.) In researching Tot School, I've found so many different things to try for her and for Zeke too, in the preschool and 5K sections. I'm really excited to try some new ideas this week!

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have...

Nothing in particular comes to mind at the moment...it's been a pretty good week!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share...
Zeke loves to paint!
