Weekly Wrap-Up & HSM Journal 6

Combining my posts seems to work pretty well actually so here's our one big post for:

The Weekly Wrap-Up - hosted by Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers

In my life this week...

We celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary - we didn't do anything too special but we did get to spend time together & that's really all that matters. :)
Another big thing that happened this past week was getting Zeke's new bed! He has just gotten way too tall for his car bed (shaped like a race car) and he's mentioned more than once that he'd really like a "funk" bed - or bunk bed, if you prefer. :)

(I should note that we are NOT using the ceiling fan you see - it's been turned off since we put the bed in. We're going to be removing it but haven't gotten a chance to yet. Just wanted to mention that so nobody thinks Zeke is sitting up & putting his head into the fan!)

In our homeschool this week...

We've been trying out a certain website (which I'm going to be writing a review of before too long) and Zeke REALLY loves it!

We also read about St. Patrick and some of the myths about the holiday. I had good intentions to make some green goodies & possibly host a St. Patty's playgroup but we were pretty busy and weren't able to do it. We did end up making some fun St. Patty's related crafts, though:

Places we're going and people we're seeing...

My Mom, Dad and Aunt came over to celebrate mine & hubby's anniversary yesterday. We had pizza and enjoyed each other's company - it was nice! We thought hubby was going to have to go into work for the whole night but he ended up only having to go in for a little bit.
My Dad was a electrician/computer guy back in the day and has lots of old computers & parts around his house and very nicely fixed up an old computer for Zeke to have on the desk under his bunk bed. He was SO excited. I have several older computer games to put on there for him that I got from another homeschooling mom.

My favorite thing this week was...

These cute hats we made! (I found the idea for these HERE at DLTK's Growing Together.) Zeke made his multi-colored while Ellie stuck to traditional green for her shamrocks. They both enjoyed decorating the hat part with St. Patrick's Day stickers.

What's working/not working for us...

Not planning is NOT working for us! Zeke can always tell when I'm unprepared or not sure of what we're doing for the day/week. I'm trying to make a point of taking some time each Sunday night to fully prepare for the week ahead - get materials/books ready, print off any papers needed, etc.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have...

Do your children ever homeschool with other family members? This is something I'm looking into it and tentatively trying this week. Zeke is going to be spending the night with his Gramma & Papa and Gramma is going to do his homeschooling stuff with him the next day. I'll let you know how it goes!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share...

THIS LINK goes to an archived page (so the pictures won't show up) but the text is HILARIOUS! It's a spoof page on the "Dark Side of Homeschooling!" Too funny!
