A Momma Makeover

When I was pregnant with my son, I went to the salon pretty frequently. I got my hair highlighted, cut and styled. I got my eyebrows shaped and waxed. As the years went on, I got busy with marriage and babies. Going and getting those things done became a luxury. Then they became a non-occurrence. I began to care less about how I looked. Don't get me wrong, I like to look nice...I guess just whenever I thought about it I thought, "No, the last time I got a major cut it looked awful." And it really did - it looked like the stylist had put a bowl on my head. I had been terrified to get it cut since then, fearing I would come out looking bad. I've also gotten heavier over the years and kept thinking whatever cut I got would look stupid with my big round face. I had been growing my hair out for about three to four years or so (as far as I can figure) and since my hair is so thick & full it was beginning to give me headaches. I was also doing less and less with it, to be honest. Again, don't get me wrong - I liked having long hair, it was just becoming something that was in the way and that was hard to manage. This is what it looked like before:

My friend Katie (who went to cosmetology school) came over yesterday and cut my hair, washed & styled it, added a few highlights and also shaped & waxed my crazy eyebrows. I'm very pleased! It's a nice change and my head feels a billion pounds lighter. I feel very cute & pretty and I haven't felt like that in a long time. I guess one of the best things I've heard about it is that it makes me look so much younger - I'm only 25 so anything that was making me look like an old lady needed the boot! Thank you Katie, for everything. :)
