Weight Loss & What Not

I went to the doctor yesterday about my weight issues and am feeling...optimistic, I suppose. Blood work was sent off & I should hear back on it tomorrow but I'm not expecting anything out of the ordinary. About a month ago, I weighed around 234 and yesterday I weighed 224 and with that I am pretty pleased. It's hard putting everything all out here for everyone to see but I feel like that makes me try to hold myself more accountable. I've written about my struggles with weight loss in the past and I really don't want to set myself up for failure again. Mamavation (see weight loss posts for more on that) was a very neat thing but I don't have the time to be on the computer that it requires. Anyway, back to the doctor visit. Weight-related health issues run in my family and the doctor commended me on being proactive and trying to get my weight in check before it gets out of control, or more out of control than it already is. I would like to have more children in the future as well and it just seems irresponsible of me to continue to have children when I'm already pretty overweight and bound to have health problems. (That's just my personal opinion.) I'm considering seeing a dietician that my doctor recommended but am not sure about it yet. I know the things I have to do, I guess I just have to crack down on them harder and stay consistent. It's just hard when you see such little progress. But I'm not going to make any unreachable crazy goals with specific dates and times. My first goal is to get to 200, my next goal is to get 180 and my Probably Unattainable Goal is to reach 160. If I got any smaller than that I'd be amazed...but I suppose anything is possible. I suppose I'm not helping the situation by being negative...but that's in my nature. So...to wind this up, I'm blogging about it, not really because I want to but because I want to keep myself accountable. And I won't turn away encouragement and/or kind comments...bad comments can take a hike. ;)


  1. Way to go on 10 pounds lost Shay! Slow and steady wins the race-remember that you didn't put it all on at once, so you can't take it off all at once-I'm doing weight watchers and love it-helps me stay accountable to myself! Keep up the great work hon!

    Chrissi, my doctor actually recommended Weight Watchers as the only program he knows that provides consistent, long lasting results and good support!
