God's Story, Your Story: Review & Giveaway

Just last week Max Lucado released a new book, God's Story, Your Story - and I was offered a chance to review it. If you haven't heard of Max Lucado, then you've probably been hiding under a rock because he's written a gazillion books. (I kid, I kid. But he really has written a lot of books.) This book talks about how you matter in the grand scheme of things. You are not just some insignificant waste of space that's just floating through life. You have a purpose and God has a special plan for your life. It can be hard to believe that in the midst of all the chaos that is our lives sometimes but it's true - that struggle or issue we're going through is going to help us somehow later along our path. In the book, Lucado weaves together stories of different people from the Bible and personal anecdotes from his own life to illustrate how they all intersect with God's own story for our lives. The chapters read quickly and easily, and I felt that it was a very inspiring book. Here's a short excerpt that my was my personal favorite part:
“If God’s goal is just to make this life comfortable and happy then either there is no God or he’s failed miserably. So if however God’s goal is to not just prepare a kingdom for us but to prepare us for a kingdom then he’s going to use difficulties to prepare us and to equip us so my struggles have a purpose. They have a reason. They’re not just distractions. There’s something in these tests and struggles that can prepare me for what is yet to come. So then I begin seeing the challenges of life not as some accident or random happening. No, I begin to see them as really from the hand of God used to equip me for something in the future, something that I’ll need to serve him in the kingdom."
