Addison Academy: Week 4

In my life this week…

Last weekend we went to a birthday party and I have to brag on my kids a little - they were super well-behaved and several people commented about how kind Zeke was & how nice he was with the babies. (Zeke has baby fever too right now, apparently - he's been asking about them all the time and is *super* excited that my best friend is going to be having a boy.) I was definitely a proud momma. Okay, bragging over! :)
The weather this week has been crazy! It's total early spring weather. The kids spent a lot of time outdoors this week. My mother-in-law acquired the piece of land behind our property and we're so excited to be able to clean it up. The people who owned it before dumped a ton of junk and a horrible looking old trailer on it so it'll be great to have that gone! While cleaning up outside this week, my mother-in-law and Zeke found a skull in the woods. He thought it was awesome, of course.

In our homeschool this week…

We've gotten a little bit behind on our schedule but we'll catch up. It's still amazing me how Zeke is flying through Math and how much more comfortable he is with our schedule now that I modified it and changed up some of the curriculum. He's showing great strides in a lot of different areas.
Ellie on the other hand....she's two, almost three and she always wants to be in on whatever is going on. I need to work this weekend on making up some more preschool packs/tot packs for her to do while Zeke is doing schoolwork. This week has proved very challenging - every time I've been trying to teach Zeke or work with him specifically on something, she's been right there going, "Mom! Mom! Open this! I need another picture! Do this please! I wanna sit on your lap"

Places we're going and people we're seeing…

Monday we went to our homeschool co-op. Zeke LOVES his classes. Here he is before announcements watching some kids play - he's the one standing on the chair:

Last night I enjoyed spending some time with some other local homeschooling mommas at the McDonald's play place - the kids ran around, exhausted themselves & played with their friends while we discussed everything from ways to teach children to different types of chickens.

My favorite thing this week was…

An unexpected nap! Monday we went to our homeschool co-op. I was feeling kind of under the weather and Ellie is usually ready for a nap by the time we get home BUT she's totally against naps right now so she very rarely gets it. After we got home, I asked her if she wanted to lay down with me and we ended up taking a 3-4 hour siesta while the guys worked outside in the yard! We don't normally do that but we both needed it that day apparently.

Things I'm working on…

I hemmed a big giant curtain this week! Wooo! FYI, I learned to sew back in the day and did it somewhat in Junior High/High School but haven't done it in years. I'm just getting back into it so this is an accomplishment for me. :)

I'm reading…

The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux - I've heard the music but had never read the book before! It's really good!

I'm cooking…

One day for lunch this week I had a grilled cheese & tomato and basil soup. YUM! It's one of my favorite meals.

I'm grateful for…

Life in general. I've been in a funk and feeling kind of down this past week but I'm trying to stay positive. Things could always be worse and I need to keep in mind how good I have it. When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. - Ecclesiastes 7:14

I'm praying for…

A High School classmate and his family - his newborn baby girl is in the hospital because of many issues she developed rather quickly after being born. She is strong though, and they've gotten her seizures under control. They are now working on getting rid of the blood clot she has in her brain. In the pictures they've shared she looks absolutely adorable - keep fighting Allie! <3

  2. Stopping by from HMJ. Sounds like you've had a great week. I have an almost 3-year old that wants to be in on everything the big kids do too! Isn't it fun?! (I keep telling myself that!)
