Addison Academy: Week 7

In my life this week...
We visited with some new friends this week who homeschool and have kids about the same age as ours! It was great to sit and discuss schedules, planning, homeschooling challenges and what not. Hubby and I had a little date night while the kids visited with my Aunt one night this week. The kids are over all their sickness - thank goodness - and my throat is much better than it was last week but I'm still struggling with a stupid cough. Very frustrating!

In our homeschool this week…
On Monday we celebrated President's Day by looking through some of the biographies and books about the Presidents we own and by sorting through, putting in order and reading the facts about each president on Zeke's President flashcards. Daddy also talked with Zeke about some of the different presidents and about some of the interesting things that had happened to them.

This was a shorter homeschool week since the end of our week was busy with an overnight field trip. Zeke is flying through his Math workbooks. It makes me happy that he's good at Math but also worries me in that I am horrible at Math - so we'll probably need assistance as it starts getting harder! In Social Studies, we are studying Indians of the New World. We got a new reading product to review for the TOS Homeschool Crew and so far it's working out very nicely. In Science, we are finishing up our chapter on bugs and getting ready to start a new chapter on animals.

Places we're going and people we're seeing…

Thursday morning the kids and I left with my Mom to go to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. The kids had a bit of sensory overload but overall had a really good time. The stuff there is so educational and it would really make a good field trip for a few days with as much stuff as is in there. We saw a Mister Potato Head exhibit, learned about dinosaurs and deep sea divers, did a scavenger hunt in an art gallery and I have many pictures to share - I took most of them with my camera and I'll share them on Wordless Wednesday. For now, check out the GIANT Bumblebee Transformer Zeke saw!

We spent the night in a hotel and swam in the pool. After a very restless night (Ellie wasn't interested in sleep...sigh) we came home today. On the way home we stopped at a giant mall and visited the Lego Store & the Disney Store - the kids were super excited, and so was I for that matter! Zeke was in awe of all the different types of Legos and both kids ended up getting a small souvenir from Gramma - Lego magnet guys for Zeke and cars for Ellie.

My favorite thing this week was…

The "Barbie: Fashion Experience" exhibit at the Children's Museum. Zeke thought it was so boring and full of "GIRL STUFF, EWW" but Ellie, my Mom and I loved it. They had a fashion show kids could participate in, fashion designer things like light boards and sketch paper, full size Barbie costumes people had designed, dolls with fabrics you could style yourself, and all kinds of other interactive things. It was fun seeing all the different Barbies through the eras and I got to relive my childhood a bit. :)

I'm reading…

Still reading "The Good Wife's Guide" - see last week - and I'm really liking it! (Don't want to reveal much as I'll probably write a review post about it.) I also downloaded a bunch of other books for my Kindle app BUT I'm trying to actually finish some before I start more, haha.

I'm grateful for…
I'm still immensely grateful that WriteShop is sponsoring me to go to The 2:1 Conference. :) I went to a Twitter party Thursday night for it and met some more cool homeschool bloggers that will be attending, had some fellowship time AND won a book! I am so excited to go and to learn more about homeschooling & blogging from some of the people that I read weekly and admire.

I'm praying for…

Patience. That's our virtue for our Bible lessons this week and it's very appropriate. This momma is feeling very overwhelmed with the Terrible Threes that are now in full swing...

A photo, video, link, or quote to share...

I learned that my name (well, my nickname) is the word for "tea" in Arabic!
