Through The Old Schoolhouse Review Crew, I got the opportunity to read Sarah Clarkson's new book, Journeys of Faithfulness which is available from Apologia. I was very interested in this book because of who it's author is - she's the daughter of Sally Clarkson! I reviewed one of Sally's books awhile back and it has since become my homeschooling "Bible."
In Journeys of Faithfulness, the Sarah tells stories about women in the Bible like Ruth, Esther, and Mary and the different challenges they faced. She also adds in her own fictional details on how the women feel or think and it is wonderfully written. She is a very gifted storyteller and intricately weaves her own thoughts in with the actual Biblical accounts - although they are fictional, they are sound & Biblical based and I could imagine many of the people saying and feeling those things. The book also includes a devotional at the end of each chapter, Bible Study questions, and pages to journal or take notes.
This would be a wonderful Bible Study pick for mothers and daughters or for a group of ladies. It is recommended for ages 12+ and although the cover says "for young Christian women," I think women of any age could benefit from reading it. If my daughter was older, I could see us easily working it into our homeschool curriculum - since she's just 3 though, I'll just enjoy it myself for now! If I could work out everyone's schedules, I think this would be a great study for myself & my momma friends.
Journeys of Faithfulness retails for $13 and can be purchased through Apologia - you can check out a sample chapter here!
