Pregnancy Journal: Week 36

Before I do this little baby update I have to give a BIG shout out and thank you to my family & friends who threw me a surprise baby shower tonight! I was SO surprised - they all kept it a secret and I was completely in the the dark, even when we stopped at the place they were having it. Hubby was so sneaky! Our dining room is now overflowing with diapers, wipes, clothes, and other assorted baby items for me to sort and put away. :)

How far along: 36 weeks, 3 days - due date is February 7th

Baby's Development: Baby is now as big as a watermelon, probably 19-22 inches and around 6 and 1/2 pounds - and I totally believe that! (That is of course an estimation.)

Total weight gain: I haven't weighed myself this week but I think I'm right around 15 pounds total and finally just a bit over my pre-pregnancy weight.

Symptoms: Well thankfully my horrible UTI is clearing up. I am feeling pretty good overall. Really wanting to clean and prepare but having problems getting around to do those things since I'm a bit front heavy, haha. I feel uncomfortable and kind of unwieldy now most of the time which makes it kind of hard to can see more about that on the next heading though.

Sleep: As I said I'm having a lot of trouble sleeping. Last night I tossed & turned for FOREVER, kept almost falling asleep, and then jerking awake because I felt like I couldn't breathe. I finally ended up going out to the couch and sleeping there for several hours, all propped up with seven million pillows. We'll see how tonight goes.

Cravings: I am either starving or not hungry at all, LOL. I've been eating several smaller little meals throughout the day - because my stomach can't handle too much food at one time - and have noticed that I've been eating blander. Anything even slightly spicy upsets my stomach. Some things I've really been into are Cheerios, bananas, cottage cheese, and peaches.

Maternity Clothes: Of course.

Stretchmarks: They're still there!

Movement: Yep! I've noticed it slowing down some but I can definitely tell that he's stretching his little feet out from the way my stomach feels at certain times!

Gender: Still a boy as far as I know...and I certainly hope so because I got lots of boy-themed things tonight! Someone on Facebook who goes to the doctor I saw for our ultrasound posted that she had just went in for a more in-depth ultrasound and found out she was having a girl, not a boy like the doctor had told her. (Or maybe it was a boy, not a girl...I can't remember.) That made me a little nervous but I'm not going to fret about it.

Goal(s) for the Upcoming Week: My birth kit arrived and I just have a last few things to pick up at the store. I went through my big box of Zeke's baby clothes and washed them all. Now I just have to put everything away!
Sadly our bassinet met a tragic end - sometime during the time it's been in my mother-in-law's storage shed, the box got wet (from rain possibly) and mice got into it. They ate holes in the sheets and ripped up most of the other parts pretty badly. I was sad since both kiddos used it but my mother-in-law very graciously gifted us with another one that her & Zeke picked out at Toys R Us.
We're going to try and get back into the swing of school this week after all my sickness last week - it really threw our schedule off. I'll be attending a breastfeeding support group this week and am currently reading The Nursing's Mother's Companion for my breastfeeding preparations. My BFF is leading the support group and will be coming over to visit with me on Tuesday - I'm so looking forward to some girl/chat time. She also made me some adorable cloth diapers and gifted them to me at the shower tonight - they are SO cute! I think I'm going to order a small set of cloth diapers online for our stash so we can try them out and see what we think - and then when we find what works best for us, we can always buy more. Plus we got a TON of disposables tonight so we'll be using those as well.
I didn't get a chance to ask my midwife about the placenta encapsulation yet. I was supposed to have an appointment with her this past Friday BUT I'm an idiot and thought it was at 2 PM when it was actually at 1 I missed it. But I talked to her and she understood! She will be here at our house on Friday for our home visit anyway so I will ask her then. We'll talk a bit more about our birth plan then as well. I'm also going to be asking her about renting a birth pool/tub. More next week! :)
