There's Always More Laundry
It seems like in our household right now, there's always a load of laundry either in the washer, in the dryer, or in a laundry basket. Our newest little one brought in his own brand of laundry that he goes through pretty darn fast for someone so little - fuzzy baby blankets, a gazillion onesies, tiny socks that always get lost, and occasionally a pile of cloth diapers. Add that to the other children's clothing, my clothes, my husband's clothes, everyone's bedding, everyone's bath towels & the other assorted towels and it's very easy to get behind. I found myself sitting in the living room one day amongst the piles thinking, "Will I EVER be done with laundry?!"
Well, there's a simple answer to that. NO. As long as there are people in this house wearing clothes, there will always be laundry to do. I'll never be completely "done." And along those same lines:
As long as there are people eating in this house, there will be groceries to buy, food to prepare, and dishes to wash.
As long as there are people living in this house, there will carpets that need vacuuming, floors that need swept, and stuff that needs to be put away.
It's inevitable, I suppose. I can't ever be "done" because chores are just a part of life. We are very fortunate to have a roof over our heads, clothing on our backs, food on our table, and more "stuff" than is truly necessary. I imagine that someday it will sadden me that there's no more rogue baby socks on the loose or a pile of pink cupcake bedding waiting to be washed. So for now, I'll just keep laundering on and attempting to conquer the mountains of clothing. And speaking of, I hear the buzzer on the dryer...
