2015 Goals

January is always a time when I reflect back on the previous year and look forward to the coming year. 2014 was an interesting year. I don't think I blogged as much as I did in the past but we also did a lot of things together as a family, including a trip to Nebraska and to Southern Indiana. The kids each got another year older - Zac: 1, Ellie: 5, Zeke: 9, and Jazmyne: 13. We found out we were expecting again. Zeke started baseball in a different league and loved it. The kids both attended 4-H Camp and had projects in the fair. I started doula training and attended several events related to that. We didn't get involved in as many homeschool activities this fall/winter and instead spent more time at home. We got a giant Duggar-style van and adopted a large, tired dog named Woody. I opened an Etsy shop and delved into the world of DIY accessories.

Before I look forward to 2015 I figured I should look at last year's goals and see how I did. So I went back to January 1st of last year and found them:

Keep my inbox under control. I did pretty good with this one! I didn't let it get too out of control and I pared things down quite a bit.

Sell stuff so I can buy curriculum. I did this, somewhat. I ended up going a different route with curriculum but I did sell quite a few things I already had to purchase the things I wanted.

Organize a LEGO Club for homeschool co-op and get something worked out for gym. I organized a LEGO Club that met for several months and it was pretty successful. Another mom took up the gym class and got it worked out but we weren't able to attend it much. We've kind of been homeschool hermits the past few months.

Do doula stuff. I'm SO CLOSE to being finished! I am finishing up my coursework this coming week and hopefully sending off the last few things needed for my certification. (My goal was originally to finish by December, then by the end of the year, then it was just sometime before baby got here. I think I"ll make it now!)

Lose the rest of the weight. Hahaha. Okay, this one is pretty funny since I now have a stomach the size of a beach ball. :D But being pregnant will do that. Oh well. 4 out of 5 isn't bad! ;)

Not too shabby really. (Except for maybe the last one!) So how about this coming year? I almost hate to make a lot of goals since our world is going to be turned a bit upside down here in a few weeks BUT since I didn't do too bad last year, I'm going to go ahead and do it:

- Have a new baby sometime in January. (EDD is January 17th but I tend to go over. However, I've been feeling recently like I may not go over as far as I have in the past. Time will tell.) We are planning a homebirth so hoping everything goes well with that too.
- Find a groove with our new little one and help everyone to adjust well. I think the older kids will do great but am a little concerned Zac may have some issues with not being "the baby" anymore. I could be totally wrong though. I guess since he's my rambunctious daredevil guy, I'm afraid he might act out a bit more. Either way, I'm going to make sure he gets lots of TLC and reminders of how special he is.

- Stay connected with my husband. We are pretty good about this but it can be hard at times, especially with the schedule that he works and a new baby arriving soon. I made us up a box of date nights for Christmas to use throughout this year (with a variety of different ideas, themes, price ranges) so I'm hoping maybe that will help.

- Be a more intentional, heartfelt friend. I feel like this year has kind of been my flaky year in regards to friendship. Although I have been really busy, I just feel like I haven't connected as much with friends as I have in the past.

- Get through the rest of the school year successfully. I suppose that sounds silly but adding a new baby to the mix always requires at least a little bit of adjusting. We've been working back into a routine after the holidays but it's slow going.

- Sell our old van.

- Lose some weight. I will of course lose some weight after I have the baby. I always do but it's baby/water weight. I am hopeful that breastfeeding helps me as much as it did last time. (I lost 50 pounds, I think?) But I am also trying to keep in mind that this pregnancy is more closer-spaced than any of my others and that I will also be adjusting to my "new body" again. So I'm not going to go too overboard on the fitness side of things right away. Of course, I will try my darnedest to eat right and to be active but this is one area I'm not going to fret too terribly about until I'm fully recovered.

- Daily Bible reading (of a morning, I hope) and more prayer. Signing up for an online Bible study.

- I don't know that I'm going to make any specific blogging goals this year outside of blogging at least twice a month. As much as I enjoy blogging, I also know I'm going to be very busy this year and I don't want to become consumed with committing to blog every day or anything like that only to get discouraged when I get "off."
- Carve out some more time to spend on my Etsy shop. Although my free time is limited of course, I've really enjoyed creating things for it and find it to be such a stress reliever.
- Receive my doula certification. (Any day now!) I am hoping that later on this year after my baby is a little older that I'm able to attend more births and help more moms.
