Affordable Everyday Makeup

One thing people tell me when we get talking about makeup is that it's "too expensive." They don't feel like they can justify it when they've got bills and other things to pay for. I completely understand that! We have six kids currently living at home and all the bills that go with kids/vehicles/house/LIFE so I do get that!

One of the nice things about makeup is that there are high-end brands that are great but there are also drugstore brands that are just as good, better in some cases. One of those brands is e.l.f. cosmetics. Not only are they super affordable but their website has an awesome rewards/points program. They also often offer a free gift with purchase, a percentage off, a BOGO deal, and/or free shipping over a certain amount. Or if you want to see the products in person first they're available LOTS of other places - drugstores, Walmart, Ulta, etc.

So I just thought I'd share some of the things I've discovered from their brand either through video makeup tutorials or on my own that are great for every day looks and that won't break the bank!

💓 highlighter in "glow" - This highlighter retails for $2. Since it is so cheap I was like ehhh, I bet it's probably not going to be that great. I even scoffed at it in my initial first impressions video, which you can see HERE. However, I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried it a couple more times. It gives a nice shimmery glow that's good for a easy, everyday kind of look. I've used it many times since then. If you want a more glam or icy-like finish, they offer other highlighters that might be more of what you're looking for HERE.

💓 "Need It Nude" eye shadow palette - I got this eye palette for FREE as a special that they were running on their website a couple months ago. However, if you want to purchase it, it's $10 for 10 different shades. $1 a shade works for me! It can take a little to build up the colors but it's lovely for soft nude/neutral looks and isn't harsh or too over the top, which is great for daytime, work, casual events, etc. I used the palette and the highlighter mentioned above to achieve THIS LOOK.

💓 Brush Sets: 12 Piece Complete Makeup Brush Set, Basic Eye Brush Set, and Starter Brush Set - e.l.f. (in my opinion) has some of the best and still most affordable brushes and brush sets. I have other brands but find myself most often reaching for theirs. You can buy brushes individually for anywhere from $1-$12, depending on the type but the sets are great if you need several or are just starting out. These sets are currently $12 for the 12 piece set, $4 for the basic eye brush set, and $6 for the starter brush set.

💓 Poreless Putty Primer: This primer was sold out after getting rave reviews from makeup artists and YouTubers so I decided to try it out when it came back in stock and it's now one of my top primers. In case you didn't know, primer is used as a base for your foundation/face makeup. It allows it to go on smoother and to make it last longer. This particular primer is also infused with ingredients that help your skin retain its moisture, which is great for my dry skin. (It's good for all skin types, though.) It retails for $8 and a little goes a long way.

What do you think? Let me know your thoughts in the comments. If you'd like to get $5 off your order, please follow this link! Full disclosure: This is not a sponsored post from e.l.f. - I purchased all the above products myself. I do get points if you make a purchase following that link. However, you get $5 off - so it's win win! Make sure you sign up for the e.l.f. beauty squad so you can earn points too. (It's super easy!)
