This is me - Shay, Mrs. Addison, Mommy...I answer to {most} anything. To read more about me, go HERE.
I've been married for six crazy years to this handsome man, commonly referred to in our household as D, Daddy, Hubby or Big Daddy. I don't usually call him by his first name on the blog to respect his privacy but I suppose if you're smart enough you can figure it out. :) To read more about him, go HERE.
We're the parents of two beautiful kids - Ezekiel and Elisha, Zeke and Ellie, Frick and Frack, Thing One and Thing Two...they go by many aliases.
Ezekiel is my rambunctious six year old. He's always ready to go somewhere. He comes up with the craziest things sometimes and is the master of sound effects. I think it's possible he'll have a future in the entertainment industry - comedy, music or something like that. His current obsessions are: baseball, Batman, riding his bike and Star Wars. To read more about Zeke, go HERE.
Ellie is my two (soon to be three) year old baby girl. She's a sweetie but she's also pretty darn sassy and stubborn - she's definitely a diva. She's always been very petite. Her current obsessions are: getting into whatever her brother is doing, dressing up & accessorizing, caring for her seven million baby dolls and anything Princess-related. To read more about Ellie, go HERE.
Our family lives in the cornfields of rural Indiana on what we affectionately call Addison Ranch. As for extended family, we have a lot of them. My husband and I are both only children but we have a lot of cousins, aunts and uncles. We plan to have a big family ourselves - we figure since we were both only kids, that means we need to have a lot! :-D
I don't always do mainstream things, parenting-wise. I'm a big fan of breastfeeding, co-sleeping, and babywearing - and I've done them all at one point in time! I'm an advocate of natural childbirth, homebirth, midwives, and doulas. I'm homeschooling our kids and am an aspiring writer. You can read more about my writing career here.
I also have a nine year old step-daughter who is a great big sister. I do have a few pictures of her posted on this blog but I try not to write too much about her since I haven't asked for her family's consent. She & I have always gotten along well. She's a very creative girl, an excellent student, and is very smart. Her current obsessions are (unfortunately) Justin Beiber and Twilight. ;)
I've been a proud nerd for a long time and love sci-fi and fantasy stuff. I have a growing library in our house, much to Big Daddy's consternation. ("How many books do you need?!")We enjoy watching our favorite TV shows - Battlestar Galactica, The Big Bang Theory, Star Trek: TNG, Sister Wives, The Walking Dead, 19 Kids & Counting, Big Love and Mad Men. I dabble in creative things - digital scrapbooking, a little sewing and some graphic design. I also enjoy playing the piano. Politically, I'm a Conservative Republican. I'm also a Christian, although I have my day-to-day struggles just like anyone else. I try to keep an open mind about most things and will discuss pretty much anything with anyone as long as it's actually discussing, not arguing. I also write on here a lot about two things very near & dear to me ~ love and marriage and my ongoing challenges in homemaking.
I use to blog over on Wordpress. I decided to move here for a variety of reasons, one being a blog name change. At my previous blog, people were mistakenly coming to the blog because of a poem with the same name and it just made it terribly confusing. I also wanted to have a blog name that was more...well, me. I consulted with the hubby and we thought Wonderfully Chaotic describes us pretty well. :)
So there you have it! That's pretty much all there. My life is Wonderfully Chaotic and I wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world. I'm a simple girl writing about my little piece of the planet. :) If you'd like to contact me about anything, please email me: shayaddison{at}hughes{dot}net.
