Sounds Like Life to Me

My husband is a great guitar player. He wouldn't ever tell you that and he'll probably be mad that I am talking about him but he only reads my blog occasionally so it may be awhile before I have to hear about it! ;) His favorite songs to play are usually country and he played one the other night by Darryl Worley called "Sounds Like Life to Me." Here's the official video for the song:

If you can't watch the video, check out a snippet of the lyrics:

Sounds like life to me
It ain't no fantasy
It's just a common case of everyday reality
Man, I know it's tough but you gotta suck it up
To hear you talk you're caught up in some tragedy
It sounds like life to me

This song is so true - and so relevant to how I was feeling that day. I love Facebook - for staying in touch with family, networking, getting back in touch with old friends - but sometimes it really brings me down when I get on there. I see everybody ranting and raving about things that aren’t really that big a deal. Of course everybody earns the right to rant once in awhile but some people just seem to be stuck in negativity all the time – everything they talk about is awful, terrible and no good. They're always having a bad day, their kids/family/significant other is horrible, school/job is stressful, their life just stinks...you know how it goes. I think that’s a very poor way to live your life. Yes, sometimes life really stinks but that's just the way life is sometimes. If everything was perfect all the time, things would be pretty boring - and we probably wouldn't learn anything! Challenges sometimes teach us things we wouldn't have been able to learn otherwise. And life is what you make of it. If you're unhappy and mad all the time, your life is probably going to continue following in that fashion. So hubby thanks for reminding me, in your own country way, that sometimes "that's just life."

I Gotta Feeling: The Sleep Deprived Mom Song

Have you heard that Black Eyed Peas song "I Gotta Feeling" - if you haven't, it's pretty catchy. I just happened to hear it on the radio the other evening when I was up with one of the kids and instead of singing "tonight's gonna be a good night" I said "tonight's gonna be a long night" and the rest is history.
Here's my version for all you Mommas that may be spending those long nights not partying, but up with children! (No copyright infringement is intended and I don't claim the original song as my own. You can see the original lyrics here.)

I Gotta Feeling
I got a feeling that tonight's gonna be a long night,
That tonight's gonna be a long night
That's tonight's gonna be a long, long night

A feeling that tonight's gonna be a long night,
That tonight's gonna be a long night
That's tonight's gonna be a long, long night

A feeling (Oh noooooo) that tonight's gonna be a long night,
That tonight's gonna be a long night
That's tonight's gonna be a long, long night

A feeling (Help meeeeee) that tonight's gonna be a long night,
That tonight's gonna be a long night
That's tonight's gonna be a long, long night

Tonight's the night, my kids are up
I got my coffee, gulpin' it up
They've started smashing stuff, oh my gosh
Jumpin' on my sofa...you! Get, get off!

I know that they're having a ball
I wish I could take a nap and just lose it all
I feel stressed out, I wanna go to bed
My brain starts to space out, I'm losing all control

Fill up that bottle, lots o' milk
Look at them dancing, just go to bed
They'll paint the town, never shut down
Be up all night, and then be up all day

Let's do it, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it
And do it and do it, let's go to sleep!
And do it and do it and do it, do it, do it
Let's do it, let's do it, let's do it

'Cause I gotta feeling (Oh noooooo) that tonight's gonna be a long night
That tonight's gonna be a long night
That tonight's gonna be a long, long night

A feeling (Help meeeee) that tonight's gonna be a long night
That tonight's gonna be a long night
That tonight's gonna be a long, long night

Tonight's the night
(Crap!)
My kids are up
(My kids are up)
I got my coffee
(Caffeine!)
Drinkin' it up
(Drinkin' it up)

Look at them smashin'
(Smashin' stuff)
Kids, oh my gosh
(Kids, oh my gosh)
Jumpin' on my sofa
(You kids!)
You better get off

Fill up that bottle
(Milk!)
Someone!
(Help me!)
Look at them dancing
(Move it, move it)
Just go to bed!

They'll paint the town
(Paint the town)
Never shut down
(Never shut down)
Be up all night
And then be up all day

Let's do it, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it
And do it and do it, let's take a nap!
And do it and do it and do it, do it, do it
Let's do it, let's do it, let's do it, do it, do it, do it

Here they come, here they go, I gotta nap
(Nap nap nap nap nap)
Easy come, easy go, someday gonna nap
(Nap nap nap nap nap)
Feel the ache, body's tired, kids don't stop
(Stop stop stop stop stop)
Round and round, up and down, around the clock
(Rock rock rock rock rock)

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
(I'm up!)
Friday, Saturday, Saturday to Sunday
(I'm up!)
Get, get, get, get, get with me, you know what I say, say
Sleepy every day, s-s-s-sleepy every day

And I'm feelin' (Oh nooooo) that tonight's gonna be a long night
That tonight's gonna be a long night
That tonight's gonna be a long, long night

I gotta feeling (Help meeeee) that tonight's gonna be a long night
That tonight's gonna be a long night
That tonight's gonna be a long, long night
(Help meeeeeeeee)
